LAWS

Landlord laws, one state at a time.

Cited to the statute, so you can check us.

Landlord-tenant law is state law. A rule you read in a national guide is, at best, the rule in some other state — and the gap between them is where deposits get forfeited and notices get thrown out. These pages take one state and one topic at a time, and cite every rule to the subsection it comes from, so you can check us.

Colorado#

Security deposits as rewritten by HB25-1249, and the late fee rules under SB21-173.

Why only one state so far#

Because each of these takes reading the statute rather than summarising someone else's summary. Colorado came first because that is where the product is in private beta. More follow, one at a time, at the same standard.
